How is Cerner’s Partnership with Amazon Going?

In August, we highlighted the fact that Cerner announced their partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for their Cloud services in hope to make Cerner more agile to be able to deliver faster, more scalable and secure solutions to clients and patients.  During the 2019 AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas, Brent Shafer, EHR CEO, shared more insights and goals to come from this partnership.

Cerner has already able to help one client by applying machine learning to historical data migrated to the AWS Cloud.  The data migrated to AWS Cloud helped identify patients at risk for admission.  From there, they were able to help reduce financial waste and patient readmissions.  Shafer states that, “Working with AWS will allow us to capture doctor-patient interaction and integrate it directly into the electronic workflow of the physician. This new advancement will help doctors and providers spend less time filling out forms and more quality time with their patients.”

Cerner and AWS will continue to work together to research more on AI and machine learning.  This will help improve health outcomes in the coming future.
